Need some help with .210

I recently dove into the .210 leak (first time on ICS)
My initial impressions are....meh....
One thing I have been fighting with is that I appear to have lost safestrap / cwr & root.
I did the OTA rootkeeper when i went from .181 and once I was on .210 I restored root and it seemed to work fine, except rom manager will not recognize root and says that "su was not found at /system/bin/su" or "/system/xbin/su"

but Titanium backup works perfectly along with ES file manager.
I've tried several different attempts to root/unroot safestrap/bootstrap but all have been unsuccesful.

Is it possible to go back to .181 and try a fresh install ?
Or any idea why rom manager is non responsive?

Ok thanks. I found the info on kernel root.

Will this allow the full root required to get rom manager and clockword recovery back?
