Need help

Hi all of the sudden after a update was done on my droid 2 global my home screen apps will not load. Also my default home screen shortcuts the ones at the bottom when I press them none of them work. I am getting a error message saying "could not launch the requested activity". I tried to restart the phone by doing a hard re boot and soft reboot and nothing works. Has this happened to anyone or does anyone know how to fix or what causes this issue?

Thanks.

I would try a Factory Hard Reset first and if that doesn't totally fix those issues, I contact Verizon. It may be worth going to a Verizon store that has a decent tech and see if they can reflash the OS. Otherwise it's warranty time.

Here's the instructions for a manual reset for the D2. I assume it's the same for the D2G.

1. Turn the Droid 2 off. If it’s frozen and you cannot turn it off, pull and replace the battery.
2. Open the keyboard and press the X key while pressing and holding Power. The device will power on. Keep holding the buttons downuntil a yellow triangle appears.
3. Press the Search key on the keyboard (magnifying glass).
4. Use the Volume Up and Volume Down buttons on the side of the phone to select the Wipe data factory reset option. Use the Camera key to confirm it.
5. Tap wipe data/factory reset then tap OK.
6. Highlight reboot system now is highlighted then tap OK.

next step to recover data

ok I used back up pro to back up my data and contacts, then I preformed the hard reset stated below. Now my phone is on and working. How do I get my data back and restore my data and apps from before I did the hard reset? I signed into my google account when it asked to add accounts and nothing happened.

Thanks

When you signed in with your gmail account info, the phone didn't download any apps? Even the paid apps?

I'm not familiar with Backup Pro, but I would assume you download that app and do a restore.

help

Yes I downloaded the app and then backed up everything. Then I did the reset. When I signed in no applications downloaded its just like it was brand new.

Also, what launcher are you using. Have you tried Launcher Pro or ADW Launcher? They have helped solve a lot of issues for others.

Probably a silly question but doesn't hurt to check! Are you sure you signed in with the same Google account as the one you used on your phone?

Also, the apps can take time to download, but if it is happening you can see it in the Market under my apps (you will see a bunch downloading/installing) and/or in the notifications bar.

help

I got it to work and everything is good just now for some reason when I try to download a app from the market it just stops. In the top status bar area it shows the download about to start then it just disappears. I tried different free apps and paid apps and nothing downloads any ideas?

From the home page open Menu/Settings/applications/manage applications/all/market and clear data.
