Need help rooting droid 4 ICS 6.16.217

I've downloaded the newest drivers, tried ICS root as well as several other rooting programs designed to root ICS phones and every single one will not go any further than finding my device. Some only run daemon tools and then nothing. Please, if anyone knows how to root the droid 4 with ICS, do let me know. I haven't rooted since I first got my original droid (God, three or four years ago). I am a linux user but have been using my girlfriend's Windows 7 run laptop to try to root my phone (obviously with no success) Anyway, any help in much appreciated.

Make sure you are using motorola USB cable that came with phone I had issue like that on my bionic I was using data cable from wife's RAZR and it wouldn't work grabbed one for bionic rooted 1st try
