navigation voice reads voice web page instead of directions

Last weekend, was working fine, but tonight when I went to use the navigation, instead of the normal computer voice, a very deep (slowed down) voice was reading an xml web page that referred to the voice synthesis.

I rebooted, same result, took out battery, same result, tried navigation from several sources (standard car dock, a geocaching program, and link from web page) still same result.

Any suggestions?

Did you remove and re-download google maps?
