Navigation causing phone to reboot?

Two problems here. A) GPS takes ages to lock on (up to 7-8 min). Sometimes I need to close maps and begin again. It does get a lock eventually though. B) The phone spontaneously reboots when in navigation. One minute it's fine the next it's showing the boot animation. Never shows the moto logo. I'm thinking this has to do with heat, as I had the problem before when on a very long road trip (running stock 2.2 then) and the phone felt very hot to the touch. Now, however, it happens consistently after about 30-35 min and the phone isn't very hot to the touch. It does seem to happen more quickly when I put the phone down. Perhaps I'm unintentionally holding it in front of a cool vent? Makes me curious about the possibility of making a cooling case for smartphones... or at least a case with a very open back intended to be mounted on the air con vents.

Running rooted & deodexed gingerbread. 596 on DX. Maps app is up to date.

I am having the same problem with my droid 2 global. It seems to reboot itself three fourths of the way to my destination. And it also takes a couple of tries to get a gps lock.
