Native USB Tether Question(s)

First, thank you for the great rom. Just got my Droid 3 and rooted and flashed this within about 10 minutes. Working excellently.
Now, my question (maybe questions): am I the only one who has the native usb tethering app (no need for the wireless one) work to access the internet, but am unable to access secure sites?

This is far from a deal breaker, but it would be nice if I could log into my email on my PC, as this is my only form of internet access where I live!

I've done some research for the last several hours and have failed to find a resolution or cause.

Is it just me? Are there any other options available?

Aaaaaand I feel stupid. It just started working, out of the blue!

Alrighty. Update time.

GMail has thus far worked every time I try and access it. However, it is other sites such as Amazon that I am still unable to access.

Any suggestions?
