My Voicemail icon says i have one voicemail, when in actuality, i do not. Help?

When i was searching this topic, Google Voice came up quite a bit. I don't use Google Voice, I use the stock VZ voicemail. So i cannot figure out how to get rid of the icon, it's starting to bug me. Thanks a lot!

If you didn't delete or save it after listening, the icon may still still be there.

Otherwise no clue. Had that issue with google voice too, but straight verizon never had issues.

i deleted all of my messages just to see if it would work, but it didn't. Even got rid of the saved ones. But because the icon is still there, new voicemails i am getting wont show up so i'll have to assume there is one after a missed call... thanks though.

I feel your pain. But give it a good while to see if it resolves itself before trying VZ tech support, bro. Waste of time.

the same thing happened to me a couple of times when I did nandroid restores.

This fixes it: call your own number, choose the option to send a message, enter your own phone number and leave a short message. Then call your voicemail and choose to listen to your messages. delete the message, and voila! message icon is gone.

I use clockwork. I find it to me a lot more functional and intuitive than SPRecovery, which hasn't been updated in months. I assume the vm icon issue happens when I have voicemails when I do a backup (i hate listening to vm so i put it off haha). So then I flash a new ROM and delete my voicemails, and then end up restoring to a stable setup but that nandroid had the icon up when I had backed it up. It doesn't go away unless i get a new message and delete it, so i just fix it by leaving myself a message and deleting.

anuraj1- that didn't work... thanks though...
Floyd- yeah, it was a no go on the reboot

Hmm that's really weird then. So when you pull down the notification bar and press the voicemail notification, it calls your vm and says you have no new messages?

Ugh, I have the same problem and I also have VZ voicemail.

And giving it time isn't gonna help, I've had that icon there for the past 5 months probably and I just thought to wait it out but nothing.
I'm not sure what to do, I suppose calling tech support would help.

figured it out! go to your mailbox, go to change your personal options, then press one to change the message waiting indicator on or off depending on what position it is in. that's all i did, i think i switched it to the on postion and when i went back to the home screen it disappeared right as i looked at it.
good luck! and thank you for all of the ideas everyone, it put me in the right direction.
