my razr shattered this morning :(

So I knocked my razr off the bathroom counter this morning and it fell face down. Sure enough, the screen shattered. I'm very disappointed as I thought this phone was marketed as being super durable. I had a Droid x before this that I dropped farther than that maybe twice and never had a problem. I don't care to use a case for 2 reasons: it defeats the point of having a super slim phone, and I use a car dock so I don't want to have to take the case off every time I get in the car. Sorry I just had to vent!

Sometimes it just falls in that exact angle which would break it

I dropped my nexus face down on terrazzo floor which is extremely strong from twice as high as you did and not even a scratch.

So ye sometimes luck isn't on our side

Dropped my OG Droid from 3' on to pavement and screen shattered. Dropped my OG Droid from 25' on to stone and screen didn't shatter.

Physics works, for better or for worse.

Ya, my replacement comes tomorrow, but I had to drop $100 that I didn't want to drop. Thank goodness I got insurance because I wasn't sure if I was going to. I just hope it doesn't take Verizon an hour to activate the new one like it did the first time. No joke, no one seemed to know how to activate it. They kept telling me to take the battery out of the phone. I must have told the guy three times that it was a Razr and the baterry DOES NOT COME OUT! Fools.

Ouch I feel your pain, killed my Maxx a little while ago.
I too have dropped this phone and others at odd angles and on tile or cement and they were fine.
I dropped mine on sand and it spider webbed!
Thank Bob for the insurance.

With it being 4G just insert your old sim card into your new one.

Yeah good thing about 4G phones, they activate themselves when they are booted up with a SIM card. No more dialing into Verizon.

Gotta love tech support. And they want to charge an extra $30 upgrade fee for this?

This will surely make you laugh.....

I work with nurse who bought an iPhone off contract and paid full price for it. She was carrying it in her scrub top pocket and bent over and out popped the iphone flat on the floor and the screen shattered. She paid to have it repaired but didn't like it because the housing had a small dent so she paid FULL price for another one. A couple days later, she was showing us what happened - yes, a live demonstration - and when she bent over "like this", out popped the new phone and flat on to the floor it went....and she shattered another screen. :icon_ devil: :icon_ lala:

Gotta love it. All that schooling and not a lick of common sense. I hope she's not working in a critical care department. "Ooops, sorry Doc, I just dropped that heart on the floor while I was trying to catch my third iPhone...but I saved the phone."

I don't know why people don't understand this. Gorilla glass is not shatterproof, its scratch resistant and more durable than regular glass. Don't depend on it to keep your phone same from a 4 foot drop.

No kidding, when I broke my Maxx's screen. I took it to Verizon and both the service reps insisted that "Gorilla glass and it doesn't break!" They were amazed and said they had never seen such a thing before.
