My phone never gets hot

I was in class today and took out my phone to check the time. When I took it out it was really hot and the battery was down to 30% I didn't use it at all the whole day. And it was 1:05. I took it off the charger today at 7. Why did this happen?

Interesting. Did you recently install any new apps that could be the culprit? Also is it possible you woke the phone up in your pocket?

My gf fell asleep on my phone the other day and when she woke up there were about thirty random screenshots in my gallery of apps her butt turned on.
