Which do you recommend and why.

I don't like PowerAmp as it's inability to stop running, and the stock is just a bore, it works but is boring.

So if you got a good one, let me know what it is and why you like it?

I recommend MIUI music player. Great visuals and great and simple functionality. You can browse by folders too. Included automatic cover download and lyrics real time scroller. Give it a shot ;-)

Winamp beta is amazing and songbird is actually now coming out with an android app there app though not in the market yet is looking really solid. You can find the songbird one on there blog for download

It just seems to me that it never stops running. I have to Force CLose everytime. ALso it auto wakes and starts playing immediately when I plug in my headset for the radio. I really don't like that.

PowerAmp for its feature set and interface.

This is a dead horse. Please read every task killer thread. You don't have to force close it. Background apps don't use resources unless they're active in the background. Your OCD is only going to cause unnecessary trouble -- let the OS do its job.

You really should spend some time looking at the settings for your apps. If you don't like this then disable it:
Settings->Headeset Options

same thing i said, i thought of wording it the same exact way you did.
