Multiple Backup files and many ROM flashes

Is it bad to flash many roms on one phone or to be constantly installing and uninstalling things?

Also, what is happening when I make backups of ROMS? Does all the data that was involved in that rom remain on my phone? I'm starting to have a lot of backups and have flashed many rom/kernal/radio combos and i'm wondering if this is bad for the phone.

Can someone maybe point in the direction where I can learn about this more and how android ROMs work?

Flashes contain program and setting info as well as the rom version (i know it saves which kernel and radio was being used, but those can always be changed). Inside rom manager, u can delete backups there if u think u r piling up too many flashes and forgot which one is which ;D As to if u can flash too many times, just like any piece of hardware u always run into a chance of ruining it anytime u flash, but I'd avoid doing it many times in a day. Since our phones have flash-based memory, its kinda hard to ruin it. Just be careful and u should be fine.
