Multimedia phone data charge discontinued

I saw a post yesterday on another topic that indicated that Verizon had discontinued the "forced" $9.99 data package for 3G multimedia phones in Sep 2010. I called Verizon and told them I was an upset customer and explained my grandson's enV2 that is on our plan had a $9.99 deduction being made even though we had blocked data access on his phone and that I did not think it was right they had removed this requirement but had not advised customers. My CSR was amazing, she went right to work and I ended up getting a $80 credit to my current bill. Guess they would have continued to collect the charge until he changed phones.

No more 3G multimedia device category for Verizon starting in Q4 - Phone Arena

So if I dnt want to have data on my droid I can call and cancel the data and still use the phone for talk n txt?
