Motorola Droid 2.2 upgrade question

Hello,

- I have the phone "Motorla Droid" with android firmware 2.0 installed and i want to update to 2.2.

- Found many guides on installing this - and seems very simple - copy over file - reboot in safe mode and click on the update.zip.

- Just one question - just so i dont turn my phone into a brick.

i have downloaded this update: signed-voles-FRG01B-from-ESE81.e48e48ff.zip

is this the correct update to run? its a 45mb file.

or is there another file i should run (rename to update.zip and install)?

You really shouldn't have to download anything. Have you had the Droid search for updates?

It should come to you OTA, I'm surprised that it hasn't already.

To insure you do have the correct file I recommend going to this page and downloading FRG01B from the links available.

You should almost immediately be prompted to upgrade again. The current upgraded is FRG22D. But that is really a patch and you should upgrade first to FRG01B.

Let us know if you need more assistance. The file you currently are using may be fine, but I know the ones I pointed you to definitely are.

- Thanks for replying.

- I dont now why i am not getting the update - like normally.

When i click on settings/about phone/system updates it tells me i have the latest.

but it is Firmware 2.0.

One reason could be that i live in Sweden and bought it from eXpansys? so its not a Verizon phone.

- If i understand you correctly should i first upgrade to FRG01B then FRG22D?

If so please tell me how to do that?

Out of Curiosity Johan, you have the Motorola Droid and not the Motorola Milestone ?

I think the Droid and Milestone Software is different, where did you get the update that you downloaded ?

I would not install that, as it is specifically for the Motorola Droid...I will do my best to find out some information on Android 2.2 and the MotoMilestone and get back as soon as possible

I will send a P.M. to our Milestone Expert in Deutschland but I am not even sure if the Milestone is set to receive 2.2 and a quick Google search turned up nothing

I will let you know as soon as I hear back

I heard back and as I suspected the 2.2 update is only going to be for the Motorola Milestone 2 and not the first Milestone

So no Flash Player for the Original Motorola Milestone, although 2.1 is still an option as opposed to the 2.0 you are running now

- ok strange because they told me before i bought the phone at Expansys that the phone should be able to be upgraded - and get flashplayer working.

- How do i check if its Milestone 1 or Milestone 2 phone?
