Motorola Droid 2.1

I hope they don't push the update until it is at least as reliable and bug-free as 2.0.1. There are no features that I am willing to give up stability for.

The only thing that I would be upset to see not included is a fix for the lock screen security flaw, about which (fix) I have heard exactly nothing.

Well my first impression was "why not have a choice.... a tick to check or uncheck as to whether we wanted antimated backgrounds?

Would be fun just to see what its like and then the newness could wear off.

But if it caused adverse effects people would just scream and jump up and down because of poor quality and performance.... so if thats the case I can see the wisdom of tossing it. "you know how we are!"

Second, its encouraging to see our Devs can excel over the OTA release.
Of course we really don't know the true story till its released....

But at this point, being so close, I'm leaning towards waiting for the OTA and in the meantime studying like crazy so I have a clue when I root so I can overclock and whatever else.

I see too many people "unrooting".. so I don't see the point jumping the gun just yet.... I have "hours" and hours of configuration and don't care to toss it all just to have to go back.... once I root, I hope I'm good for a while as I doubt another OTA update with happen at all, or at least will be a while...... and I may go for another phone by then!

Test build

Test build

Warning warning this is only a test of the emergency broadcast system : )

Your having way too much fun boiling down those bones!..... have you no empathy... no shame? Can't you feel our pain? :icon_ banana:

Just want folks to wait until there is something more solid than that Endgagdet article.

They are notorious for doing this. They want to be the first to break "news" then go back and correct it.

In the meantime everyone runs with the info like its actually happening.

Once the final build comes in and the info is out there then there is a discussion. Right now people are jumping to conclusions : )

Droid 2.1 Lost Root

I upgraded to Sholes' version of 2.1, but somehow lost my root access. Anyone have any tips on getting it back?

uhhh, why can't we edit our posts? (I hate making typos) Is this prelude to them closing this thread down? *brow*

Been wondering this myself...is there a setting someplace that prevents users from being able to edit posts ?

Figures, someplace just replied LOL...and I can't Edit or Delete my question!! LOL

lool... thanks anyways... I only asked because we used to be able to edit our responses... but ohh well...

...and now back to our original subject 2.1 quickly! (before someone hits me for changing the subject)

*ducking quicky*

Don't know if this is the right thread for this.

I downloaded and installed the no-root 5-screen launcher. It's very convenient having the additional 2 screens. On the other hand, in my case it comes at the price of a very noticeable speed hit. And sometimes one or more of those screens just go blank and I have to re-tap the home icon to get my icons back.

Now if there was a way to combine the convenience of the 2 additional screens with the "pop" that the original 3-screen launcher had, we would really have something.

Ahhh, I don't care what anyone says... I enjoy reading this thread. I just know we'll get it when we get it and then this thread'll pop! But in the meantime, guys just make me laugh...

...& I need the laugh these days... while waiting for my 5 screens and flash... oooh, sounds like a singing group.

Now appearing, The Five Screens & Flash! Any day Now, folks!

Getch'ur tickets heah... The best singing upgrade for your Motorolaahhh...

ohhh that was baaad... *smh* moving on! *ducking again*

There is. I have the 2.0.1 launcher with the 5 homescreens. Just as snappy as stock 2.0.1 with the benefit of extra real estate.
