Motorola Droid 2.1

Sheesh, some of your guys are a little tight about this.
I'll take an update if it comes but am not worrying if it does or not.
My 2.0.1 unit runs fine and has none of the problems I see reported.
I have a smooth scrolling browser, my wired head set does not disable my phone ear speaker, no freezes or restarts. Amazing!
Its just me but for the life of me I don't need 5 home screens. And live wallpaper? Who the heck sits around staring at their phones wall paper?
Is this thing a tool or a toy?

We know for every complaint there are thousands of the opposite. I'm a lucky one this time :icon_ banana:!

It's both.

I am also wondering if they are enabling mult touch with this update. As Motorola CEO Sanjay Jha stated in CES that ALL Motorola android devices will have multi touch. If so, I would be glad to wait for this feature and all other enhancements that are doing.

I am also wondering if Motorola is waiting to release 2.1 until after they release BackFlip for AT&T.

It already has multi-touch. There are several apps that take advantage of that fact.

The only thing that makes any sense to me is that this update would be handled similarly to the last one. They announced when everyone would have the update but said that others would get it a few days sooner. Wouldn't you think they would follow the same pattern again? And since there have been no announcements it must be a few weeks or more away a best.

96 pages? What could you guys possibly be talking about when 2.1 is not here and there have been zero announcements about when it will be released?

after Google went around adobe to give the iphone html5 capabilities with google voice...i'll bet adobe takes their toys (flash) and goes home.

The Droid may currently support multi-touch, but only custom apps such as the Dolphin Browser support it. The Droid Gmail client has no zoom capability whatsoever. Built in Browser and Maps still use the click here or there method of zooming. Navigator is still in Beta - will it ever not be? Will any of these critical Google Apps on the Droid EVER be updated? Sorry after 3 months I've not seen any native mail updates except for maps. That's why I sound like a jilted lover.

They did that because Apple won't allow Flash on their devices. Flash means that people can play free games online, and Apple wants to make sure people have to buy from the app store.

I think Google would love Flash capability on their phones, but carriers might block it because of network limitations. But I hope it comes out as promised.
