Motorola Apparently Not Satisfied With Android

motorola-android.jpg

Between the dwindling opportunities for hardware differentiation in the smartphone and tablet markets, and the Windows-like commoditizing effect that Android is having across mobile device makers, Motorola Mobility (like its competitors) have few options but to build their own user experiences.

Apparently, Android might not be good enough for Motorola Mobility. At least not as it comes in its plain vanilla form.

I lol'd when someone else posted something like that earlier. They're basically shutting themselves out after the droid line brought them back.

There's a lot of ex-Apple and Adobe personnel on their team. Interesting to see what they come up with if anything at all.

Moto's been given a new lease on life. If it wasn't for the Android OS, I would never have bought another Moto device. If it switches. I will NEVER buy another Moto device. It's not like their hardware is all that great either. Every Droid varies in performance, abuse tolerance and longevity. Stupid.

Moto ceases to amaze me with their complete stupidity. Android saved them from a possible bankruptcy, and they thank them by shutting them out and trying to go their own way?

Whatever. The heck with those guys. If HTC ever gets their battery situation squared away, I will never own another Moto device.

Don't bite the hand that feeds you, Moto.

Apparently, they haven't figured out that locked bootloaders and Blur are not "features".

Seriously. I'll buy a Windows phone before I buy another locked Motorola product or anything that I can't reliably upgrade myself.

A shame. Vanilla Android is the only compelling phone OS for me.

Damn Moto, breaking my heart.

Instead, you should work closely with Google and create a better ecosystem of devices. Just create Pure Google Experience devices with phenomenal hardware with stunning eye candy to allure consumers. You guys are in no position at the moment to create your own OS. The time and money would be too much for you guys to be able to create a fully functional and a desirable OS ecosystem.

There only scenario where I could see this making any sense is for lower end devices where full access to the Market, android features, and so on isn't of much concern. A phone where Android would be overkill.

Seriously?!?! i agree with the previous posters - Andy and the D1 saved Moto, and brought it back from the brink of oblivion. after i owned my Star Tac, i had less than zero interest in any Moto device - until the D1. since then, i've been on the Moto bandwagon. but this is very discouraging. they think more Moto Blur is a better alternative??? all they have to do is spend 10 mins on this forum and they'd realize that their phones are selling in spite of Blur, not because of it. maybe they've got something really innovative cooking, but if Blur is any indication, count me UNinterested!

Moto and VZW both thumbing their nose at Andy - WHAT THE H-E-DOUBLE HOCKEY STICKS IS GOING ON?!?!

Motorola is just wasting our time. Things appear to me (while reading this forum) that their own "user experience" is looked down upon. Personally? I prefer the pure android look and feel... that's why I for one will run my droid 1 into the ground. Of course Moto helped a lot with that 2.2.2 update. My wife's droid installed the darn thing, but it smoked a bunch of settins. And when you go to "My apps" in market? NOTHING shows up. In my case the update failed to install... said it rebooted... it lied. Then notification for the patch never re-materialized and I had to install it manually. Then all software update notifications stopped... I've watched as one, two, three then four apps I have on my phone (when going into my apps... which thankfully *I* still have) showed up as having updates available... I've been sitting here waiting for the notification... it ain't coming. Motorola perhaps should be renamed to "Moronola"

Sorry for wasting your time... but I'm p.o.ed and had to get this off my chest.

I was going to hold out for the Bionic, but now after hearing this I might just go with the TB. :icon_eek:
