Modding a Game App

I got Age of Conquest for my Droid Pro. I've made a new map for it using the map editor on the desktop version of the game.

The only problem is that I can't seem to move my map file into the appropriate folder in the app with ANY file manager I've downloaded so far (and it's been seven or eight). How can I get a file from my sdcard/downloads folder into a folder on the phone?

I've even tried "move to phone" with the app, but the folder I need stays on the phone and doesn't go to the card.

halp!

I managed to get an app that creates a backup, putting a copy of the .apk file on the card. I then moved the file to my computer, opened it without unzipping it, removed the stuff I was replacing, added the new stuff and put it all back on the phone.

But now I can't get it to install from the card (doesn't seem to recognize the file as an installable thing), and yes, I have it set to permit installation of non-market apps.
