Miui to froyo 2.2 trouble

Trouble going from miui back to froyo 2.2 leaked. I keep getting can not install. Any ideas?

What version of recovery?
Install through recovery or ROM Manager?

I just unrooted then rooted again decided to start over clean

OK. The recovery version plays into what ROM's you can flash. The latest won't work with certain other roms that don't use the latest scripting.
