Xiaomi phones are all the rage in Asia. Not many people in the US are familiar with these devices, but I have a feeling that if Xiaomi could ever catch up to demand we may start seeing some international releases. What makes Xiaomi phones stand out in my opinion is their heavily themed version of Android MIUI. The company is set to roll out the final version of MIUI 7 globally on October 27th.
The final build improves battery life by 10%, and should speed up system performance by 30% according to Xiaomi. The main feature in MIUI has to be the theme engine. It houses thousands of custom themes. There are other features like kid mode, incoming call video, and more. The OTA update will be available for Mi 4i, Mi 3, Redmi 2, Redmi Note Pro, and Redmi 1s. Other supported devices will have downloadable roms.
