MHL Adapter question for streaming video?

I ordered and received my MHL adapter for streaming video from my Nexus to my tv and it works great except for the video is wider than my screen on my tv for some reason? It is possible that I recorded the video in 1080p and my TV is only 720P? Will this cause a problem if I rent a movie from Google Play to watch on the TV through my Nexus or is there some setting somewhere I cannot find to change this?

Thanks

I have an option on my Samsung 1080P TV to adjust the source size to fit the screen. Mine shows big also, I have to adjust it to fit.

So I changed the screen size on my TV and it didn't help. Its almost like both edges are cut off in any setting I select on my TV.

If anyone else is having this problem check with changing the over scan settings with your tv . These settings might be in your service menu which is entirely different that the user menu. Google your TV to find out how to access that menu. Just a FYI.
