market not working after flashing rom

so my friend and i rooted his moto droid yesterday. we flashed a rom from rom manager called something gingerbread(maybe bugless beast). and the market no longer works. he restored his backup and it still does not work. we did all the tricks in the book cleared data/cache of the market and everything. another odd thing is that when we looked at his "about phone" it said android version 2.3.3.

Sounds like you flashed the Rom properly as the version stuck. Try to clean several time both cache, system, dalvik cache and date and then reflash.

After flashing skip sign in to Google account and try to open market.
