"Low storage", although 8GB left on SD card?!

Alright, I have used up nearly half of my SD card storage. I'm satisfied that I have some storage left to download. But! There's a catch... Whenever I download something now that's over 5MB of storage, this annoying notification pops up that says "Warning low storage available," and I can't delete it! How can I solve this??

Your internal SD Card is partitioned into several sections, some space is devoted to internal and system apps, some is left free for downloads, apps, etc. The part that's left open for downloads is the part that is nearly full. You can increase the available space by deleting unused applications or moving those that can be moved out to the removable (external), SD Card.

You can gain significant space by deleting or uninstalling the updates to a couple memory hogs such as the pool game, NFL, and the racing game.
