Low res phonebook pictures

Since the ICS upgrade, whenever I make or receive phone calls the enlarged phonebook pictures on the screen lose all their definition and becom very low resolution, grainy and heavily pixelated. But when just viewing the "People" (formerly Contacts) directory the smaller pictures still look fine. What's with that and are there any fixes for it?

I am also having this problem. What if your contact photos are synced with Facebook? Is there a way to fix this?

How are you doing the contacts photos? If they are through your GMAIL contacts then this is a known issues, and should be "fixed" in JellyBean. Even though the People app accepts higher resolution contact photos Gmail still compresses them.

This should explain it more:
Jelly Bean Bumps Contact Photos To Hi-Res 720x720 But Google Sync Continues To Clobber It With Low-Res Mush The only real way around this in ICS is to either:

- Grab Google + profile pictures
- Use a Facebook sync app (FaceBook Contact Sync) and tell it to grab higher resolution photos
