Location Services Without 3G?

Hello Everyone,

I currently have 3G turned off on my HTC Droid Incredible, as I only use internet when I have a wifi signal. So, if I want to use my map and want it to find my location I need to turn on location services. If I turn it on while I am on WiFi, will it try to connect to the Verizon Wireless network and start using data?

I don't want to use maps or anything if it requires the use of data transfer.

I have a data plan (150 mb) but to prevent from going over that, I turned off 3g on my phone.
