Led flashlight

A friend got a new phone. I tried to put the led flashlight on it and the silly thing would show a red display screen but no led flashlight any ideas?

First of all, what phone did your friend get?

If it was an Incredible, then there should have already been an app on there for a flashlight, so you shouldn't need to install a 3rd party app for that.
