Large Battery on screen during recharge

Been trying to duplicate this and wondering if it helps.

While well known a computer USB does not do anything to help charge the MAXX, on a few occasions I have noticed I power off my phone and have seen a large battery on screen, showing recharge, and the phone is off.

Is this only while on a wall wart or is there some special mode I can put this in to be charge only while on USB?

Yes that large battery icon while phone is off is normal. To see it click one of the volume buttons. But I don't know if it will charge while off when connected to USB.
