Hey wondering how you guys test your kernels and what works best for you.
I guess if it crashes, it doesn't work.
Don't know about hight Android OS, I assumed it was bad too.
I test the camera, if it doesn't take a picture, its not working.

How do you find the vsel? If only setCPU showed you! I assume this makes up the battery life.

Using c1 800mhz ulv right now.
Used Primed stuff before, it confused me too much.
Used P3 for the most part, great battery life and excellent performance.
Pete's I haven't tried.
RZ's are good as well, very consistent.

Unfortunately I can't answer all your questions. I always do a 1 week test on Kernels that I flash to my phone. I run it for a week, testing everything including speed, functionality and battery life. After a week I log the results on my pc and then I compare the results to other Kernels i've used. Whichever one seems better overall is the one I stick with.
