I've owned every single iphone ever made and now I finally switched over to the droid incredible 2 on verizon

i have a few questions:

typing on an android compared to an iPhone is soooo difficult, I download an iPhone keyboard and handcent and it still hard to adjust for me

is there any application or something I can get to make typing on this phone as easy as it was for me on my iphone?

is there any application similar to spot light that will search the phone itself and not google?

the screen on the droid incredible 2 sucks, is the droid charge comparable to the iPhone 4 retina display?

i'm trying really hard to like android, but the keyboard is really pissing me off.

Welcome.

The cool thing with Android is that you can change the stuff you don't like. There are tons of keyboards out there that you can use, just download and choose what works best for you.

The Droid Charge has probably the best screen out of the Android phones. You have 14 days to return your Incredible 2 for a different phone.

Root Explorer can search your phone files for things, but it requires Root. I don't know of another one off the top of my head that doesn't, except maybe Astro File Manager.

1, screw you for ever touching the i*hone

2, now that i got that off my chest, download gingerbread keyboard from the market and get used to it.....

sorry for being rude but i had to say that

Lol the iPhone is a better phone but the software limitations caused me to switch. The notification center on the android is nice and I also want 4G

You can use the Google Search app to search the phone... when you first use it it asks wether you want to search everything or just the phone.

Well, based on the fact that it drops tons of calls and doesn't function right when holding it in a certain position, id say its a worse phone. :)

Only reason I got.the Droid inc 2 is because it was free. I'm going.to sell it and.get the cjarge. I want.totorrent on 4 g.

I hate this keyboard!!!

I think if you are returning it within 14 days you have to give it back....
Because you can't just get a free device and then sell it towards a more expensive one.

And if I were you, id wait for the Bionic.
The Charge still have a single core processor, and has a plastic feel.

Yeah I understand. I was going to buy a used charge. Maybe ill sell the dinc2 and buy a cheap smartphone to keep unlimited.and.when I get back from vacation late in august get the bionic in time for the fall semester

Regardless what's the best iPhone keyboard?

Have you tried using swype? I got the Droid2 but if I knew swype would be so good, I would have gotten a slimmer phone with w/o a keyboard (since I barely use it now).
Also, gesture search which I believe is pre-installed is really good as was previously stated.

Ya thats a good idea. As long as you can keep unlimited data, all is good.
VZW's tiered plans are very pricey.

If I were you I'd try swype keyboard. And maybe Smart Keyboard PRO.
There are TONS of options, but you'll have to try some out.
Maybe you should try the Droid 3. It has a physcial keyboard.

Yeah just got.the gingerbread keyboard. So much better.

Thanks.for.your help guys!

typing on an android compared to an iPhone is soooo difficult, I download an iPhone keyboard and handcent and it still hard to adjust for me

is there any application or something I can get to make typing on this phone as easy as it was for me on my iphone?

lol @ the "retina" display.

Anyway, the phone search is built into the OS. What exactly do you want to search? You can change the default settings to search many different locations by pressing the search button, and then pressing the "G" icon to bring up the drop down box:

And to permanently search all types of apps you want, click on the settings icon to the right of the drop-down box (above) to open up this menu:

Also, if you want to search your file system, you can download a file manager like Astro File Manager, which has a built-in search function for your file system.

It will take you a little while to adjust to the different type of OS functionality of Android. Give it at least a week to see if you like it. It may grow on you.

I fell in love with swype after using it for like a day. I have tried a lot of the different keyboards out there, the GB keyboard is nice, but I can just type so much better using swype.

BTW its an open Beta that you can sign up for at Swype | Text Input for Screens

I use handcent as well for texting, but man it is a memory hog. So if you notice that your texting is laggy or slow, its probably handcent. I've tried out a few other options that were ok, but I really like the UI of handcent, so I have learned to deal with the lag associated with it.

Astro is a decent file manager, but I prefer ES File Explorer. I still have Astro on my phone, but only to have the ability to d/l any type of file (that capability is not included in ES).

oh and welcome to the world of android
