I ordered my D2 at 2:45am this morning. I was going to wait for the R2D2 version, but I figure the navy and silver will suffice. I'm sure we will be able to download all the extras anyways. This is my first experience with the Android OS and I'm super stoked. You guys are going to have to help me out!

Yeah this will be my first driod as well, my g/f has one but that doesn't count I never use it. Hopefully we will get a shipping e-mail soon saying when it will be shipped. I am trying to figure out what so special with Droid 2...

Same size (WxHxD) as Droid 1
Same screen size and resolution as Droid 1
Both can use Android 2.2

Droid 2 Advantage
- 512MB RAM
- 1Ghz Processor (but Droid 1 can overclock to 1Ghz as wel)
- Dual Mic

So is it "really" worth the upgrade?

I'm not sure I would have upgraded had I been an original Droid user, however, this is my first Droid and I think it's a good starting point.

Hopefully a root will be available...when I'm ready to really play with it.

Not for the Rooted users of the community, but for Non-Rooters and people that are new to the Android Platform this device will be a huge hit, this phone ships with Android 2.2, 1ghz processor, JIT, Flash, twice the RAM as the Original Droid, I would be honored to call the D2 my first Android Device

I have a Droid Eris and part of the reason I want to upgrade to the D2 is because of the 8gb of space, and the better hardware. The other reason is my Eris is acting up sometimes, and can be slow to use.

I kinda see the other guys point. Jit and flash are both software, (the D1 will or allrady has it. I do. the Two advantages you listed 1ghz processer and ram is a nice upgrade but is it worth the upgrade? (their is also the improved keyboard) In my oppinion it is not. Unless i get R2D2 lol, then its totally worth it. The locked bootloader is what really upsets me.. otherwise verizon would already have my money for an upgrade phone.

Droid 2 will be a great device for new comers to Android.... but speaking for myself, I won't be upgrading to the D2 from my Droid.
