Yes but you need to download the 3 update.zips from Team Black Hat on mydroidworld.com and update your kernel because you are using the 2.3.320 kernel it looks like.

would this accomplish the same goal? http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-x-rooted-help/112152-maderstcok-ota-2-3-340-update-zip.html

Yes, maderstcok does the same.

thank you, wish I could download it now but it doesn't like being downloaded over 3g :/. hopefully this finally makes my bootloader say 30.04 and my performance not be poo.

Just remember, this will take your phone back to new out of the box status (minus sd card) and you will have to re setup everything, and re root...

thanks for the warning :D, I've sbfd more than you can imagine recently and i've had to do all that so hopefully I'll be fine, have z4root on my sdcard, still a bit depressed I can't dl this yet though since the mirrors are ridiculously slow and just cancel on 3g, I'm pretty sure it'll fix a lot of my issues.

Yea, 284 megs is quite a bit over 3G.. And it will fix your issues, unless you had them while stock.

Just make sure you're on at least system version 2.3.15..

When I look at my About phone screen I see exactly what he does except for:

"Kernel version
2.6.32.9-g55626e1"

instead of what his says. Does this mean I do not need to do what he did? Or no? And because I know nothing of what any of this means anyway, what effect would it have on me if I did/didn't do this? (assuming I even need to)

I think that made sense...

That means you are on 2.3.340, the OP was most likely on the leaked 2.3.320 and then loaded RubiX on their device.

Ok, so I am up to date with everything at this point, correct? I have no problem switching ROMs and rooting and all that but for whatever reason the whole update part of it has always confused me.

yeah I've been flashing tons of roms made for 2.3.340 for the longest time, I was under the impression that they updated you automatically from a misunderstanding :(.

till I get a chance to use Internet do you think my performance would increase if I switched to a rom made for 2.3.320?

edit: now I'm confused :/, many of the roms i've tried were made for 2.3.320 AND 2.3.340, so I'm starting to lose hope in the whole "performance will be better once you upgrade" thing.
