I think most of the roms and stuff are for 2.3.340 because correct me if im wrong but isn't 2.3.340 the newest update for the Droid x?

I was confused about this as well, im fairly new to smart phones. I just got my first one, droid x, about 4 days ago and just finished backing it up and wanted to flash rumm rx on my phone and noticed I had version 2.3.340 and wasn't sure if those rims we're compatible? Im still running android 2.2.1 but I doubt that affects it. Any advice guys? Thanks!

Everything will work just make sure it supports 2.3.340 it will say it in the rom post. You are running the most up to date Verizon OTA you are fine. All the new roms will work. Liberty, rummy, apex, all of them.
