It syncs your contacts and downloaded apps to your google account. There are programs in the market (like G-Backup Full) that will back up everythig else (ie. pictures, videos, sms, mms) to you google account also.

If it's music you're trying to sync, just plug it in with the USB and mount the drive. Windows Media Player recognizes it and will let you sync music.

These phones don't really sync to a PC like a Windows or Blackberry or Palm phone would. The whole idea is that important stuff gets synced to "the cloud", that way, it can be accessed from anywhere, not just your PC.
