Is there a way to arrange Droid icons?

I'd like to put the ones I use the most at the top of my screen and since I've been adding a lot of news icons, etc., it would be a great advantage to me.

I've tried touching and holding the, but they somehow end up on the home screen.

Thanks for any information you might give.

I have a rooted Droid and I can arrange the icons on my five home screens as I wish. First, go to the screen (say 3) open you app drawer and press an app's icon. The icon should appear on screen 3. To move to a different place on the screen, long press and drag. The only time you can not add a new icon should be if there is insufficient space on the screen for the icon.

The app drawr...press the button at the bottom...lists your apps in alphabetical order. This cannot be moved around though with some home screen alternatives you can hide apps. If you want news put them on a home screen which you have already figured out. Keep playing and guarantee a wary that works for you.
