Is the inverted Talk.apk not compatible with GB?

Cakes I have been saying the Inverted Gtalk (Froyo) isn't Gingerbread compatible since December, ask Jatx - he has been listening to me complain about it ever since

I wish I had known then lol it would have saved me a couple days of hell. I'm up now and about to start snoopin around this thing

What do you mean by False alarm? did you try where thebowers said and it that wasn't it?

I thought I had it, but realized it was just the regular background and when I went into a conversation itself, it was still white. However, I have got HALF of the list inverted now. The incoming, but not out going messages. Half way there...

This was done without any smali editing, so I'm assuming that the other part isn't...I'm just overlooking it.

Almost there....Do you remember what xml that was? Or can you post the apk?

The background color for received messages is in Colors xml in the Values folder. You'll find it here:
<color name="received_chat_color">#ffeffbff</color>

However, the main background color isn't there. That's just an overlay. Cakes and I spent a few hours trying to figure out the damn thing, with no luck. It must be in smali like Bowers suggested. I pulled out every XML and PNG from my themed inverted Talk I use on Froyo and it installed and changed everything...BUT that. Argh. So frustrating. I get lost when trying to decipher smali. Not my strong suit to say the least.

i can't find anything in smali that even comes close to giving me a clue either

The Bowers must be right cause I have tried changing every color code in the xml's and had the same "white" bg in a chat.... the incoming chat bg is a .9.png in drawable-hdpi tho I think..... but your personal bg isn't so it must be in smali ...

Well i even went so far as to think they must have done away with that in talk and just combined it in framework so i changed all the background images in framework....no luck there either. However, i did get all my other xml edits done while i was there

From what I can remember with smali (long time ago), do a search for -0 in relevant ones. It will have a -0x1 1 in smali is white -0x1000000 is for black. If you desire other colors, get X's Ultimate-CC.exe

I never could figure it out either... lol.. I tried inverting gtalk myself and changing all the text colors to match my theme's color and that one bg and the text when people are "away" I couldn't change so I gave up.....
