iphone 4g > droid?

I have to say as I am a recent iPhone to Droid switcher, that both of these phones have their good and bad points. I only signed a 1 year deal in anticipation of the iPhone coming to Verizon. Initially a few days after getting the phone I am still really happy with it and was seriously thinking the Droid may stay as my phone. I'm hoping that these rumors of getting Flash hold true because I don't care who you are, that's just annoying to not have full access to the web. I love the open platform and alot of the features this phone offers. My rants are in compared to the iPhone the amount of good apps that are useful to ME are quite lacking. The ease of use is nowhere near as easy and I'm pretty tech savvy. Coming from the iPhone there is certainly a learning curve as it's not as straight forward. The touchscreen is not as responsive which is quite annoying since I am constantly missing calls because I can't answer the phone. Maybe I need to get it checked out, don't know. As I said I've only had it for a few days. I am thinking and from what I've read the 4G iPhone will probably represent both sides of meaning 4th generation as well as will work on a 4G network. The latest I've heard is Verizon may hold out on launching the iPhone on their network in anticipation to launching their 4G network next year. We'll see. Technology changes constantly and being I only have a short contract maybe there will be a new Android phone that wins me over, but as of now so far I'd have to say I'll be switching back once it gets here. Certainly glad to be away from AT&T all together though. Worth switching to the Droid in itself.

I can see where you are coming from. You have to take into consideration.... The Android system/market didn't explode or grow as rapidily until the Droid's release. In a sense Android is still young... LoL Now what apps are you looking for? Ask around I am sure people might know of something. Like I said something to consider, the length of time Android has been around.

Like mentioned by Miamidroid.... Yes the iphone does have its simplicity. Now I am in no way here to bash the iphone or any other phone for that matter. Yes the droid has a learning curve coming from an iphone or any phone for that matter. Thats cause there is more that we can do with our phones.

About your screen's sensitivity, A lot people complain that its too sensitive. Do you have a screen protector on it? Like you said yourself,. Technology changes.... Anyways read around and ask all the questions you have regarding the phone.... People here are more than willing to lend a hand :)

I think, that when the iPhone 4G comes out this year........unfortunately, it will probably BLOW every other smartphone that's out there clear outta this world....don't lie you guys, you know that Apple (for the first time) feel threatened now, since the Droid and N1...so you guys know that Apple is cooking up something that will literally blow our fragile little minds...

But that is completely OKAY....because, this will only strengthen the smartphone market..just like the first iPhone did. Because after we see the 4G, by the time we get our upgrades, there will be another Droid that will match the 4G and go beyond it...just like the our Droids do right now

its a cycle. iphone will make a awesome; then the google/motorola will counter when the release the droid 2. But if apple REFUSES to aallow flash then they are just limiting themselves.

TBH, with the announcement of Windows 7 phones using the Zune interface...I am more excited in seeing how that unfolds.
Really tired of Android's Fragmented system..Droid was my first foray into Android and I love the Droid but Android.. not so much..

Worthless argument. I have no doubt it will be a great phone. Two things apple needs to do IMHO

1) Quit being so restrictive on what people can do with their phones. A phone that absolutely must be hacked to be really enjoyable should tell them something. Yes, you can root the Droid, but it is still very unrestrictive and enjoyable without rooting.

2) Get rid of AT&T or at least open it up to other networks. I don't care how many has been actors you have doing commercials, AT&T is still pretty lowsy compared to Verizon at least for coverage.
The iPhone is just as enjoyable non jailbroken as the Droid is non rooted. Dumb argument.

Correct. You are lying to yourself if you think the Motrola Droid is going to be better than the iPhone 4G when it comes out. Hell the 3GS and Droid are equal, and Apple only gets better.

But as everyone else said, its a cycle. The Android phones are the first phones ever to pose a threat to the iPhone.

Your lying to yourself if you think the droid and 3gs are equal. Opinion aside the droids specs are more impressive. Stand alone gpu, larger screen....I could go on..

in my opinion The "smoothness" of apple's OS is in direct correlation with its limitations. The software on the droid will very quickly match and surpass apple in that area. In regards to the UI, I have had experience with both and the iphone UI is deemed easier by the elderly and the lazy as "better" because if it is not "dumbed down" it is not included. Android attempts to combine simplicity with the option to challenge your expectations of what your device can accomplish. All this without worrying about voiding your warranty. There isn't a non jailbroken iphone in the world that can match the functionality of the droid out of the box.

and then....theres the fact that if you buy an iphone that's it. your stuck with that look and feel until you jail break. android is so open that with the touch of a button my phone can look exactly like an iphone, or blackberry, or WM phone. I doubt jobs will ever be cool with all that.

And judging by Apple's new product, the iPad, I don't think Steve Jobs has learned his lesson yet. If the next iPhone does get a more powerful processor, more RAM, more built-in apps, but still choose to stick with AT&T, still be restrictive about other apps and services, still no multi-tasking out of the box, no flash (HTML5 won't be implemented anytime soon, yet) etc., then I don't know if it would appeal much to a lot of people, except for the Apple fanboys, since there would be other smartphones out there that would have those features out of the box and also the ones that iPhone currently lacks. Let's just see what the iPhone 4G brings.

The Iphone 4G is expected on the VZW network end of this year or beginning of next year. It all relies on the VZW 4G network being built at this moment.

I'll believe it when I see it. Also, where did you read about this bro? I'd love to read about that info and not just about speculations on whether it might end up with Verizon.

The majority of reviews (9.9/10) have the iPhone beating the Droid.

Stand alone GPS? iPhone has it, but you have to pay, but its better than Google maps.
As you said will.... It doesn't yet. Which does not help your Droid > 3GS argumrent:
The software on the droid will very quickly match and surpass apple in that area.

Uh with the push of a button you can make your Droid look like a BB or Windows phone without being rooted? I don't think so man. That would mean you are using a Home Replacement app for that. And the only one capable of doing that is SweeterHomes. And I have yet to see one look like any of those well. They all try and fail. Post some links to back up your statements.

And if we are going Non Root v. Non Jailbroken:

Then lets not forget the iPhone beats the Droid in:Apps, Broswer, Music player, Accessory's, Processor Speed, Multi Touch, Shall I go on?

Ok lets start off by stating the current facts of you saying the iphone wins.
Cpu speed: "The iPhone 3GS uses an ARM Cortex A8 processor running at 600MH" - The droid may have a 550Mhz cpu stock but it doesn't mean crap for the iphone if it doesn't even multitask!

Browser: From personal experience whenever i use a ipod touch or a iphone on the web i constantly see the checker box pattern when scrolling a page i have not once seen this on my droid.

Multi Touch: didnt google maps and the stock browser just get updated in the market with pinch zoom? and android does support it next point plz.

Accesories - Unless your a 12 year old girl why would u was some glittery pink case for a ruggedly designed work phone? in all seriusness the droids accesories are their you just need to look.

Music- This i will give you somewhat the iphone music interface is much better ill aggre but is being locked to itunes really worth it?

I am not trying to start a fanboy war here just saying what needs to be said!
