Instant messenger app

What do you guys recommend? I want something basic that doesnt kill the battery life or have random disconnects. All I need is to be able to sign into AIM.

The AIM app did not work to well for me.

im having trouble trying to find one too... i just need facebook and jabber. i was using meebo but they dont work with facebook anymore. i cant find anything that works with jabber other than imo right now

I use imo for yahoo, google, and fb chat. It also support aim. I feel that imo is the simplest-lightest multi-protocol chat, doesn't need any special login, and has more stable connection compare to other...
