Inc2 Battery Life

Yeah I don't usually use maps because I know how to get to work. Maybe once a week I will click on my traffic widget (from Google Maps) that shows me about how many minutes it should take to get to work, BUT that's only if you click the widget otherwise it's in zzzz mode. The standby showed 9% for time without a signal. Could that be it??

Make sure in your Settings>Location
That all 3 location services are off. The only one you would use that works is the standalone but you can just put the widget on one of your screens for easy access.

Mine goes down to 90% after 10 minutes, and this is my second Inc 2 phone. Everyone else seems to have better luck. I have all the proper settings and have taken all the advice on all of the forum posts.

This is my second Inc 2 phone. Both are functioning similarly. GPS, BT, location info, auto-sync, etc... all is turned off. Brightness is on lowest setting. Email push is only every 30 minutes. Time without a signal is only 1%. Display is usually around 35%, phone calls around 20%, cell standby and all the other battery drainers are usually under 5%. Hardly use the phone, just for occasional texts or email checks, and maybe 1-2 phone calls per day (10 min or less). My phone usually dies within 4-8 hours. And I mean DIES. If I don't use it AT ALL, it dies in 8 hours. If I use it more moderately, it dies in 4 hours. With heavy use, I'm guessing I'd be lucky to get 2 hours out of it. Please help me figure out if I'm doing something wrong. My experience is so different from everyone else. I hate this phone. Is the Droid X2 any better?

If you have everything off and it only lasts for 8 hours then it has to be an issue with an app that you installed. Based on the information you have provided nothing seems unusualually high. If it is not the phone or the battery then it is either an app or how it is used.

If you get such poor battery life on the dinc2, you will likely fare much worse with an X2 as it does not get very good battery life to begin with compared to the dinc2.

I really don't know what to tell you other than try a factory reset, full charge and switch to airplane mode and let it sit for a few hours and see if it still drains very fast. That will show if it is the phone itself or the battery. If it gets good battery life it is an app or the settings. And if the settings you posted are accurate, then it is likely an app.

That is ok for time without signal I believe. But it does drain the battery if it is looking for a signal. I put mine on wifi when ever I am near my router. It is also good to let the battery drain low before plugging it back into charger. But I am not sure what is causing the drain though. It could also be a bad battery, maybe have verizon test it for you. It's hard to pinpoint a battery drain.

To save battery I turn screen brightness down to 40%, turn wifi off when not near a router and one when near, keep bluetooth off when not using it, don't use a task killer, I don't let widgets and mail auto sync (I refresh them manually), and uninstall rogue apps that are always trying to access the internet if I don't need them (some like Fancy Widget will but are ok)

9% without a signal is quite high. It really should not even show up. 1-2% is OK but at 9% that is a lot of searching for signal which is probably the biggest battery drain on the device period.

Oh and with that much time without signal make sure you are in CDMA mode.

Yea you are right, I didn't think 9% was too high, but mine is only at 1% today for time without signal.

Plus if you figure that it is not continuous so the phone likely will not go into power save mode and will be jumping its power to max off and on all day... That can kill it. I haven't had this phone in an area with very poor reception but on my OG Droid that had good battery life, 4 hours in very spotty coverage, that thing was dead.

I am about to return my SECOND Droid Inc 2. I did everything mentioned in all the forums and contacted HTC directly, and no one can figure out why my battery life is so poor. Phone literally dies within 4 hours without use. Given that this is my second phone, I'm fed up. So here is what I care about in a phone. Please make suggestions based on your personal phone experiences about which is the best choice for me. My top priorities are as follows:

1) Battery life. With low to moderate use, I'd like to get a full day and only have to charge when I go to bed.
2) Need to be able to get my work emails. We currently use Lotus. It worked on my blackberry, and it works on my friend's Charge. Will it work on Motorola?
3) Need to be able to hear my voicemails or the other person talking.

My Inc 2 did not allow for any of those things. What about the Charge? X2? Something else?

Btw, I don't care about how fast my phone is or about listening to music. I just want to check emails, text, go on facebook, and play Words with friends. That's it. Oh, and I don't want my phone to freeze up or crash very often. Any advice would be appreciated.

Any 4G phone will die pretty quickly. 4G drains the battery pretty quick. I heard th x2 has a crummy battery. I have no problems with my inc2. How long have you had the phone?

I have had it for about a week. I have done the whole charge/drain cycle as recommended by htc and forums. Have great reception in my area. Don't use any apps other than facebook, and htc rep said that facebook is an ok app b/c it will shut itself off rather quickly after you exit. I literally just use my phone for text, email, and occasional facebook check.

Since you mentioned the X2 has battery issues, what about the droid 2 or the X? Not sure if they still sell those.
