I'm sure this has been asked before...battery question

but i can't find it.

Is it bad to use your phone straight out of the box without letting it charge for 24 hours or however long?

[aka use it while its being charged for the first time]

Or can I use it straight out of the box and be fine?

Here is a tip from Motorola about training your battery

Train your battery
Train the battery by fully charging it and draining the
battery until it shuts off.
1 With the device turned off, fully charge the
battery until the LED no longer flashes and
remains on.
2 Let the battery charge for an additional TWO
hours.
3 Repeat the process again (perform twice in a
row) and you should experience improved
battery life.

I started playing with my Droid as soon as I unpacked it so I never gave the phone a 'full' initial charge.... the battery did suck the first couple days. Once I got into my normal usage pattern (a charge at night) my battery life really stabilized. I've never really worried about making sure the first charge is a full charge... worked so far

uh, you can't charge the Droid when it's off :motdroidvert:

I have noticed that I have significantly increased my battery life by doing a couple complete drains. When I first got the phone the battery life seemed to be short. Through this forum site I have read from others to do a couple full drains to reach the max life out of a battery and it does work. Give it a try, it can't hurt

plug it in, it will 'turn on' as soon as it is receiving a charge. If it doesn't come on when plugged in I'd think you have a bad battery.
