If you could only have/recommend 5 APPS ?

Here's my top 6...sorry, can't do just 5 :)

OI Shopping List (I use this to keep a to do list also)

Key Ring Rewards Card (keeps all of your shopping club cards, so you don't need to carry the darn plastic ones with you anymore)

Color Note (Lets you put a little "sticky note" on your home screen with a to do list, or just a reminder of something that needs done ASAP, so you'll keep being reminded of it whenever you use your phone)

Beautiful Widgets

My Days (period and ovulation calendar, lol...very handy if you are trying to get pregnant, which I am)

Shapewriter - I could never go back to a keypad where you have to tap on each letter

but I also use these frequently:

Solitaire

Texts From Last Night (a hilarious distraction for when I'm riding the bus/subway)

Battery Widget (shows percentage of battery left, and also lets you toggle wi-fi, gps, bluetooth, and go directly to display)

Compass (I'm a chick, and bad with directions, so when someone tells me "head east on 17th ave, I have NO idea what direction to go...whereas my husband, for some reason, always knows)

OI Safe (lets you enter all of your online account info - log in name, passwords, credit card numbers, etc. Then, if you need to go to one of your accounts, you can just click "go to site", and it will take you there and have your password ready to paste)

Oh, and Helix Launcher, I love it!

lol, obviously, men won't really need the majority of my apps....

Touiteur
Handcent / Chomp SMS ( I cant decide which one I prefer)
Last.FM / Pandora ( I cant decide which one I prefer)
Beautiful Widgets
SetCPU / Helix Launcher (SetCPU if rooted, Helix Launcher if not Rooted)

I downloaded ShapeWriter last night after reading this thread. I will never be able to go back! Already I can't imagine typing and texting the "conventional" way ever again! I wish I would have found this earlier! I am just blown away!

My 5: (and I'll leave off the obvious ones that have been already listed dozens of times)

JuiceDefender - Literally can double your battery life depending on how you use it.
Locale - Changes profiles based on location and other criteria. I set it to turn my phone on vibrate when at work, and to keep screen on and enable wifi when plugged in at home.
Advanced Task Manager - Auto Closes tasks, allows you to free up memory from running tasks.
Bambuser - Allows you to stream live video. I use it with facebook, it's kind of a niche thing I guess, but fun.
Startup Auditor - Allows you to control which items start up with your droid. (note, don't disable market or Google Talk, as it will make getting apps a pain ;)

Some of these are pay apps, but most offer a free version you can try first.

Looking For A calendar

Over-priced, horrible support. Stick with "Setting Profiles" instead. 1/8 of the cost, better support, more options.

If I were allowed only ten (not counting the built-in apps):

1.Swype
2.Handcent
3.Astrid
4.Pure Calendar (Integrated with Astrid and Remember The Milk)
5.Evernote
6.My Day (Journal)
7.Helix Launcher
8.Folder Organizer
9.Documents to Go
10.MotoTorch Led

Other Favorites: IBreviary, MindMap Memo, Phone Tools, Pkt Actions (eBay), Places Directory, Movies, Police Scanner, Quickpedia, Remote Droid, Thinking Space, Tricorder, UltrachronThe Weather Channel, WiFi Buddy

Handcent Sms is a must have, Ebuddy because on the facebook app there's no app for chat so I use e buddy, task killer by apollo software(it saved me 40% more battery!), Rock on!(its a music app tthat takes your current music and finds album artwork and concerts from the bands u have) and Remote Droid which allows your droid to connect to the same wifi ur laptop is connedcted to and let's u use urthe droid as a mouse, I just downloaded pdanet so I can't really rate it yet but if its as good as I hear id prob put it on my top 5.

K, I've got well over 50 apps, so this is going to be hard.

Normal everyday use would be

1. Handcent
2. Personal Assistant
3. Screebl
4. Weatherbug
5. Pandora

5 apps to show your droid off.

1. Google Sky Maps - this usually blows people away.
2. Where
3. Compass - where else can you get a digital compass... FREE?
4. PDAnet
5. Movies - Movie buffs go crazy over this app.

There are several more that could make this list but that's it for now.
