ICS this week?

I got the update this morning and I never signed up for a soak test. As I wasn't aware of this thread, I started posting about the update here: http://www.droidforums.net/forum/dr...4-0-ics-update-rollout-starting-today-17.html

One thing that doesn't work is the Gallery. This will be good fodder for you conspiracy folks who don't believe the update is being rolled out. I took a screenshot (Power-Vol Down keys) of the "About" screen, but I can't view it. Actually, in addition to not being able to use the Gallery, after I take a screenshot the phone says "Saving screenshot" at the top, but never seems to complete the action...?

I have no reason to make this stuff up....so if there's anything else you want me to look at or try, let me know.

Do you have Astro or another file manager? You could get to the picture that way.

When I looked up how to do a screenshot in ICS it said that it would make a Screenshot folder. I see no evidence of such a folder and there are no new pictures in my dcim folder (on the phone or sd card).

When I go to the camera app there are no pictures in the little square. I took a picture and it showed up in the square, but when I touch the picture the phone goes to the the view and the app times out.

I wonder if it has to do with me needing to pop out the card when the phone locked up in the last part of the upgrade.

Is there a way to rebuild the picture database in the Gallery?

I have ics and my gallery works fine.... it duplicated alot of my pictures keeping original and making a thumbnail as well....

I've read a few places that once it has downloaded and installed it is helpful to restart your phone -- that it clears any "glitches". Worth a shot...

I've rebooted several times. I've powered down and removed the sim and sd. I wish I could make the phone re-do the upgrade.

This should make things clear on the "pull" option:

"Nate Cousineau ‏@Nate_Cousineau
@vzwsupport I see you said ics can be pulled within 8 days. Does that mean on the 8th day or sometime between now and 8 days?

@Nate_Cousineau You can pull the SW update manually to your device 10 days after the software's effective date (June 22nd).^JB"

So starting next Monday everyone should have the option to "pull" the software. Until then, it looks like it will continue to roll in waves, so we just sit and wait!

Strange... Someone here may have other options, but if you're not rooted, maybe not. Personally I would take the issue directly to Verizon and/or Motorola then. I would assume their workload is only going to increase as more and more users get the update, so asap!

I leave for New York on the 30th of June. I'll be too busy to download it there, so should I wait for it to get to me or should I download the leak?

I'm not rooted. I suppose I could swing by the Verizon store on my way home. They'll probably just give me a refurb. I wonder if I can give them $50 and switch to a MAXX?

EDIT: Going for a factory reset. Ugh. I didn't want to do "work" today anyway.

Impossible to read 135 pages BUT I did see dialogue about Who/How/Why for the OTA Update. I have three Razrs in my HH. My Son has had his Maxx for 5-6 months, I have had my Maxx for about a month.
He got his ICS Update OTA late Friday night - He is unaware of soak tests and is not signed up for anything.
I am still not in receipt of the Update. Both in Pa., Both same house, same phone, different purchase dates.
Draw what inference you may just please do not question what I say being true - that is simply rude.

Somewhere in this thread is a fix for the gallery problem. Something about force closing it then when you open it back up all is well.
Sorry I can't be more specific I just remember reading something about it here.

Yeah, that seems the most logical. The only thing throwing a wrench into that is all the people on this thread that claimed to have received it while never signing up for the soak. Of course, they could be trolling, or maybe some "non-soakers" were mixed into the soak?

Either way, it seems as though the only question remaining is when the soak will end and the full push begin. It's rumored to be on the 27th, which almost guarentees it will not be that day! lol

There were always some non soak users mixed in with soak members during an update, it's been that way going all the way back to my droid 1.
