ics screen shoots

Maybe a stupid question but this is the same button combination that "was" the battery pull or "hard reset". Are you saying that in order to do a hard reset now, it will ALSO take a screen shot first? Or have they changed the hard reset key combination (something I didn't think could be done)?

The screenshot is instant the hard reset is for 10 seconds or longer although to be honest, I haven't tried it yet on the ICS...brb after I test :)...

And yes, it snaps a screenshot and then 9 or so seconds later it shuts down and reboots :)...

Strange...very strange. You think they could have used Power plus Volume UP for screen shot instead, but perhaps that key combination doesn't have an interrupt whereas the Power and Volume Down does. Also, since the Power and Volume Down are a hardware (rather than software) interrupt, that may be the whole reason why they had to go that route.

But it's still possible to just take a screen without reboot, isn't it?

Just don't hold for 10sec.. or does every SS results in reboot?

:/

No, Screen shots don't result in reboot. You have to hold for another 8 or 9 seconds AFTER the screen shot for the hard reset to take effect. It's very unlikely that you would hard reset accidentally since the screen shot happens almost instantly from what I've heard.

I'm used to the hard reset being Power + Volume Up + Volume Down for 10 or so seconds, I've taken a few screenshots using the new Power + Volume Down method and haven't experienced any spontaneous reboots...

The blackened system will help greatly with power consumption as well.

Not sure about this. If it was truly dark then maybe, however it is gradient so it still all depends on your backlight setting.

Does anyone know when exactly the update is coming out tomorrow?

It's not. The soak test hasn't even started yet. It will be as LEAST a day after the soak test starts. It's more like a week based on my experience but it appears that they only soak tested a Bionic update for one day. That most likely won't happen here though.

Okay.... Just putting this out there.
Remember all the threads about "dark spots under a black screen in a dark room"?
The usual end response was "how often do you have to stare at a black screen in a dark room? "
This forum is gonna be an interesting place to hang out at... :)

LOL Touche!

However, I still maintain that this isn't a true dark screen so I don't think it will be an issue.

Quoting what a Verizon rep told me. Beware.... idk how true it is

sent from my MAXX.

I think the reason they asked if you were making this up or quoting somebody is because in your original post you said Google pushes the update . However we all know that is not true because Google only gives the code for ICS to Motorola. Motorola has to build the update and Verizon has to approve it before it can be pushed out . Google has no hand in the update process .
