Sounds like an ongoing call. You should be able to pull down the notification bar and select it. It should open what ever it is.

It sounds like CJM is right and like he said you should he able to see it in the pulldown but have you rebooted your phone to see if it goes away?

Found problem of mysterious handset over five dots. Went to settings and found TTY mode accidently moved to 'long' position. I moved it back to original off position and handset icon disappeared. Tnks for the responses.
