The new Thunderbolt form HTC is probably coming very soon as training materials and classes for Verizon employees has already begun. This is great news, because it indicates that we will probably get the Thunderbolt fairly soon. Of interesting note, you can see in the picture above from one of their training fliers that the Thunderbolt will be capable of handling voice and data simultaneously. That's a welcome feature!

From the look of things, the Thunderbolt is primarily just a 're-badged' HTC EVO for Verizon, but that's not necessarily a bad thing as the EVO is a pretty amazing phone, even though it goes way back to circa 2010. :p
How many of you plan to grab this phone when it comes out?

The more I see on this one, the more I think I want. I have been on the fence between the Thunderbolt and the Bionic.

Sort of off topic dlwhtrose but there is another high end device (manufacturer unknown at this time) that will be for the non 4G market. So be patient if you are on the fence.

No leaks other than what I just posted. It's unannounced and wasn't featured at CES

An admin off-topic? How dare you? hehe..jk dancedroid

I'm on the fence too. I love my D1 and DX, but I'm unsure if I'll go Bionic or Thunderbolt.

Im eligible in early august..which will work out fine for me,by then the 4G market will be out and new phones should be out like the Bionic,as nice as the HTC thunderbolt is,I would like to stay with Motorola,as Ive had great luck with them, and there devices just feel better to me,along with more accessories being available for them.Samsung isnt an option for me unless things change, those poor Fascinate owners are still on android 2.1!

I"m with you guys. It's a tough call. If the Bionic does end up with the vanilla look and an unlocked boot loader, i'll probably go with that. But if not, the Thunderbolt could be it.

I'm thinking Bionic over the Thunderbolt. My upgrade isn't until July so I have some time. From what I've been reading, it seems the Bionic has more features than the Thunderbolt, but until they come out and I have them in hand it's hard to say.

This simultaneous voice/data will be about as important as AT&T's is now. AT&T's only works where they have 3G, this will only work where Verizon has 4G. I guess it's still a selling point, and especially new to Verizon. I can see the ad-bickering now... Verizon: "we now have simultaneous voice/data!", AT&T: "hmmph, we've had that forever!" - and the average consumer will just eat it all up like it matters. Heck, I heard a nationally syndicated morning radio show the other day talking about the iPhone on Verizon, and one guy offered to sell his iPhone to the other girl so she could use it on her Verizon contract... most people really don't have a clue about this stuff at all, which is why these overhyped ad campaigns work! Wow that turned into more of a rant than I expected... sorry.

You know, Apple is really not going to like that. The big loser in that debate is the VZW IPhone. Eventhough it's really a trivial feature as you mention, like you said marketing works.

I'm up for renewal in August like alot of the Droid early adopters. I'm leaning towards the thunderbolt right now. I'm happy with my droid1 and i was able to get ROMs running on it (running MIUI 1.1.14.1 ), but if they make the bionic a pain I might be going for the thunderbolt. I love how tough the D1 is BTW. The body is scarred and pocked with craters, but the gorilla glass is unscratched and it runs like a dream. I definitely want a phone as tough as this for my next one if possible. Droids don't die :)

I'm interested. In all seriousness this is the only phone I really envied over the D1 since all the others have come out. But I didn't envy it enough to go to Sprints service. Now, there are other possibly way better phones coming out as well, so I'll hold off for a bit. There is one good thing I think, since the EVO has been out for so long, there are ROMs etc. for it which I would assume will work for this phone as well.

Anyway, pretty soon I will have a new device!

I for one will be getting the Thunderbolt when it comes out. When a better phone or a phone that in my opinion is better I am willing to pay full price for it. Motorola is only continuing to make it hard to put custom ROMs on their phones as they've made so obvious. Since the phones are coming with better kernels and even dual core I might not be so eager to flash them but still. I'm thinking I might like HTC phones better than Moto and since I've never had an HTC I'd like to try one out.

I've always been a fan of Motorola (2 of my 3 phones, including this droid), but this phone looks pretty amazing. I mean, my 2-year contract won't be up until August 2012, so who knows what amazing phones we'll have by then? And with great 4G as well, I can imagine.

Just for anyone that purchased the Original Droid when it first came out... You can upgrade with discounted pricing now... you just won't be able to get that stingy "New Every Two" discount...
