this is just further confirmation i know, but its also kind of disconcering:

With the expected volume of devices avail to each location. I would advise that those interested in the device without a pre-order at best buy check with their local corp store to ask if they are doing a pre-sale. We are looking at limited supply and given the hype over the device I want to give people a heads up to get in line... early....

Example.. some major locations will only have 20-40 devices..

Just called my local corp vzw and I talked to the store manager and shes taking pre-orders she told me she would even let me play with it when she gets them in thne store she said she usually gets the new phones 1-2 days before THE day

i just spoke to a big red telesales rep. Again, thursday is the day. I had her put me down for a pre-order if they have them starting tomorrow. She said it will be announced tomorrow,and question of a presale/no presale would be answered then. So tomorrow is going to be interesting...

Well I work in retail and we dont match online or catalog prices, I think its the sameway every where but idk im just guessing and I think Walmart doesnt either so we'll see

At BB? I call shenanigans, I got them to knock $100 off a laptop by showing a competitor's add less than a year ago. Sure the line rep told me they won't do that, then the next person he got said the same thing, but the store manager did it in a heartbeat.

This is the worst. I am going out of town at like 7am on the 17th (Thursday) and wont be home till Sunday ... I know I know I could probably get it while Im gone but I have a friend who works at VZW and gets all my business because he always looks out for me. Im a loyal kinda guy, this sucks. Im gonna be on a mini vacation and all Im gonna do it is fret about this stupid phone

Your friend will understand. That, or do it over the phone with him. You wouldn't get the phone till you get back, but (s)he'll get the sale.

According to THIS post, Skype has been removed at least temporarily. I think that validates THIS earlier claim, and explains the delays well. In fact, now that I've googled it, there are a lot of articles suggesting the same.

Yea I saw that. Surprise the blogosphere isn't known for accuracy. I was interested in it only because it had an image supporting the $299 possibility, which I'm hoping isn't true.

It is 299 at Best Buy atleast.. I asked if they are going to make me pay 299 since I pre ordered when it was 249 and the guy said they would let me get it for 249..
