HTC Thunderbolt Release Date

Guess I will add my 2cents....

I just called my local BB and I wanted to know if I can still pro order the bolt and he told me no...I asked him the released date and he told me the 24th...I asked him the price and he didn't know...said it changed a few times...I then asked him the pricing plan....he informed me the same as it is for 3g for now......so we will see

I'm a bit leery of VZW changing the LTE plans (I don't think price, but caps definitely). But if I have to pay retail I really want the Bionic and not the TB, although I'm not so set on that as I was - disappointed TB isn't dual core but disappointed Bionic only had 512meg ram. I see both as potential shortcomings in 6-12 months. If I'm going to pay retail, I want the perfect phone and it doesn't even look to be on the horizon unless there is a Q3 or Q4 surprise.

Only real reason I'm remotely interested in the TB, aside from wanting LTE, is I want to be grandfather if VZW changes the data plan.

You will never find a perfect phone. There is always something that is slightly flawed, and if you're a picky person (I'm not saying you are) then you'll be really upset with the 14 day return policy.

Let's try and stay on topic as to when the TB is going to be released.

i'm projecting the 3rd because the 24th is when the xoom will come out and thats a big product so they will let it wait a week before they release something big like the first LTE phone

and does anyone think the reason they might keep pushing the date back is because they want to make sure LTE is stable because i know there will be alot more phones on the LTE network then data sticks ever will

Can somebody fill me in why it seems to be an issue that the BB ad shows the TB as "new"? I keep hearing people sound indignant that is says "New". Why? What else would it say for a new phone? If there were having a special on the X or something, they would not say "new" but since it's a new phone, why the hubbub that they print "new" in the ad? I feel like I'm not in on the joke or something.

I think the general rule of this forum is that you are allowed to throw out speculation, with no evidence, ONLY if it involves the tbolt coming out on or before the 24th. Otherwise, stop dashing all of our hopes.

I'm kidding, of course. I like to think that it will come out early next week to avoid competition with the xoom. Maybe I'm naturally optimistic.

Went to BB and he said the 24th. He didn't think they were getting very many of them but I was 2nd in line so I should be fine.

This was posted on another board from a guy that works at a BB:

so, bad news, just checked my toolkit and we have a correction notice for the ad tomorrow.

The Thunderbolt is being delayed, and Skype video calling won't be available.

We don't give a date or anything...but I think the skype thing isn't a big issue, it'll be pushed out later...but the delay...wow.
