HTC Thunderbolt Release Date

I think VZW has put off an announcement as long as it could because of the iPhone (they wanted as many sales as possible before the masses found out about the better phone), but now that it is old news I expect official word on the TB to be forthcoming soon. They can't hide from it anymore with all the ads all over the place appearing today. Maybe tomorrow during the joint Skype-VZW presentation at MCW in Barcelona? I guarantee they will be showing off the TBolt during that.

That joint Skype/Verizon presentation was posted in error by someone previously. It was actually from last year. Tomorrow is HTC's day, but I think the release is out of their hands at this point. Please correct me if I am wrong about the verizon/skype thing, but I can show you links to where they admitted it was last years announcement if needed.

Here is the link - - someone started posting this around other forums as well and got everyone all excited - but look at the dates and its clearly from last year.
Verizon Wireless And Skype Host Joint News Conference At Mobile World Congress In Barcelona

I see, thank you for correcting that. I thought maybe they just got the year wrong in the date but I guess not. Well hopefully VZW let's HTC make an announcement tomorrow in that case, but I agree that I think it might be out of their hands at this point even though they dropped a boatload for ads today. The ad on CNN is definitely a very good indicator that it will be this month though. Those saying March are just being overly pessimistic IMHO. I don't think they'd plaster ads all over the internet for a device that would not be available until next month. I do think they want to build up some more word of mouth this week though before release.

Couldnt agree more.

Out off all the people who review phones this guy ends up with the new model.. His review and unboxing vids where about as exciting as Ben Stein in his clear eyes commercial!!

lol. i know it,but its all we have for right now until this thing is released.
was still excited to see the phone but this guy??... the whole vid all i could think is ben stein going WoW LOL!!

Did the guy in video 2 say when the TB was purchased we had to sign up
for the 4G data plan?

what 4G data plan? there have been no official communications either way on this point, and the present strenth of information is suggesting that the 4G data plan pricing and limits will be no different from today's 3G plans.

the ad on cnn, under the skype tab says "you can video call anyone on any supported device." a ways back on this thread someone was questioning whether or not skype was just between verizon phones. we now have an answer.

I was ready to shoot myself after about the third time he said "and it's really cookin' " on the TB quadrant test in another video.

I agree as well, I run online advertising campaigns for a living and know how much these things cost. That CNN homepage takeover was big money, they are dumping a huge amount into this campaign.

Actually the fact that the campaign launched today lends credence to today being the original launch date. Large homepage takeovers like that have to be purchased months ago and are very hard to re-schedule. Because of the amount of money they've put into this campaign I'm sure they really did not want to push back the launch.
