Maybe today we'll be able to pre-order from Verizon. Lets see if anyone gets their phone from Best Buy.

I'm trying not to get my hopes up about getting a call today. I think what will happen is that they were suppose to come in on a truck this morning but they won't show.

Keep waiting folks - I'm officially off the Thunderbolt bandwagon. I'm sticking with AT&T and pre-ordered my Atrix yesterday. My "VIP" discount (basically, thanks for not jumping to Verizon) got me the dual-core Android with 1 GB of RAM and qHD screen for $99. And it's guaranteed to be in by March 6th... or sooner. No games, no leaks, no speculation - and darn good price too for a phone that, on paper at least, seems better than the Thunderbolt - other than the network.

I've said it countless times - good luck seeing this phone before March. Vz's got it's grubby little hands on the iPhone now and you droiders don't matter so much anymore...

I'm one of the people in that thread at AC. I have to tell you, this is getting frustrating. My local VZW opens at 8, and they said they were told they would be getting them today, but they never showed. The way this launch is being handled is a complete and utter failure.

There hasnt really even been a launch so how can it be failing? I think the phone is going to come out on the 24th, although I wish it was earlier.. This gives Verizon over a week to launch the phone.. If anything I would think they would announce the release date very soon for the phone and maybe start to take pre orders on the 17th.. It seems logical to me..

I do agree that the way they are going about things is not very good.. For this being their first 4G phone you would think they would be putting more effort into the release of it and not keeping it all quiet..

Poor hubby, he was really hoping to get this for me for V-day today. He defintiely knows that the phone would get him more action that some stupid flowers or jewelry! ;)

This is what I meant, more or less

this is an incredibly smart release strategy.

however, there's a difference between frustration due to overspeculation and talk about comments we can't verify the validity of and Verizon/BB handling this poorly.

they've advertised subtly for the TB, putting more marketing into the iPhone because let's face it, it has an enormous fanbase and a device with that much attention would be flaunted relentlessly by any carrier, especially since this case is along the lines of "haha we got the only thing keeping ATT alive". with the TB, i can't imagine a better marketing scenario than letting the iPhone return period end and the same day, going "hey look at this enormous, shiny new phone that can compete with your fiber optic internet connection at home! and it has a kickstand?! buy it!" EVERYONE is watching 4G, because it's "new" and "hip", and Big Red can campaign a product like no other regardless of the pre-release hype.

would i rather see a commercial on more often so i can feel like this product's existence is at least partially recognized? yes. but as far as i see, the 24th is a real good bet for a release and im content to wait another week and a half after having the D1 for a year and a half.

The TB & Droid X appears to have same screen size.
Does anyone know if the TB will be smaller overall?
X seems a bit large to carry in front pocket.

if you look at it in relation to his hand, its not overwhelming. big? yes. but small enough to fit in a pocket...unless you wear tight pants.

What I am a bit annoyed at is that BB is now earning interest on my preorder. What will they be giving me in return for not delivering the goods on the date I was told when I plunked down the cash.

That's why I posted a while back saying if you're in that situation you need to complain. Demand for a free accessory or something.
