HTC Thunderbolt Release Date

The $750 price for Beat Buy could be legit. They always charge more for full retail. But $615 is what Verizon is charging and minimum for what a retailer could sell it for. Still, this is expensive. The Inspire 4G (Desire HD) is $399 off contract, which is insanely cheap. Yet this is over $200 more than that. I know the LTE radio is pricey, but seriously AT&T is way cheaper than Verizon. They rarely charge more than $499 for full retail devices. Verizon needs better retail pricing.

Apologies for the following rant, but I need something cathartic to ease my frustration.

The release of the Inspire 4G has really roused my ire with Verizon. In my mind, Verizon has made a deal with the devil, doing whatever it needed to do just to get the blasted iPhone. (Nothing against the iPhone; it's a very good phone, just not the phone I want.) While we wait for Verizon to deal with the release of an 8-month old phone, AT&T releases the Inspire for $200 less than the Thunderbolt. (I know, the TB specs are better than the Inspire, but still).

I feel like Verizon has turned their back on their loyal customers who have come to prefer Android. This doesn't seem to be isolated to the Thunderbolt either, as I have similar thoughts about the whole Atrix vs Bionic situation. If Verizon thinks that their high-end customers all want an iPhone, they are sorely mistaken, and will probably lose a few customers to other carriers that seem to be getting great Android devices and are charging a lot less. (LTE better be d*** good.)

Couldn't agree more with you lol.

Does anyone know if HTC is making an appearance at MWC?

i'm not signing a new contract. I'm buying a droid x or incredible outright and waiting to see what the thoughts are of the thunderbolt.
I'm sure there will be bugs and things that will need to be worked out.

I pre ordered today, the guy said prbly the 24th and he heard the reason was because of the battery or some **** blah.

The reason this phone is being delayed is because verizon is notorious for testing the **** out of phones and this one won't have any significant bugs that's for sure

If that is correct, I'll be going there tomorrow morning and saving my $50 BB pre-order giftcard for something else. I am still very hesitant about it though, this could be just another bogus rumor. If the VZW website does not change by 3am or 6am to show the TB for sale with the others (instead of on the separate "coming soon" LTE page), tomorrow is not happening at VZW.

Why do I feel like Charlie Brown about to go kick a football?

What are her sources? It's possible she just head that from something/someone unreliable.

Call verizon yourself...the phone is scheduled for release. I know after all the drama it sounds too good to be true.

If they surprise us with a silent release, that would be the best Valentine's Day present ever! I still think 2/24 is more likely because of the iPhone issue, but maybe since pre-orders were the bulk of their iSales they decided to unleash TB early. This is probably just wishful thinking though.

Also, Android Central has ThunderBolt advertisements all over their page, so at least that is a good sign that it is coming very soon, FWIW.

Doesn't these things usually post to Verizon's testman website before it gets put on actual website?

What's a testman website?

iPhone, Cell Phones, Smartphones, Refurb/CPO Phones with the Best Cell Phone Service - Verizon Wireless

You would kind of have to guess at what the phone's actual URL would be after the address. But it seems like somebody usually stumbles upon a new phone on there before its put on the actual website.

Cool thanks
