ugh im about ready to bite on the droid x. $300 without contract.

Just wait till the end of the month before you start phone surfing, try being left behind in the non-smartphone world of the LG enV. If you have a droid 1, use it for 3 weeks tops. there should be SOME info from verizon by then.

Cool your jets cause like majority of people, my money is on the 24th

my new every 2 is effective the 3rd of may. I'm afraid if I plop down $250 on a contract thunderbird that between then and may 3rd or sometime this summer a new phone will blow the thunderbird away.
That is why I am seriously considering paying $300 for a non-contract droidX

Phones that have dual core processors won't be able to utilize the dual core until apps are updated/made to use both processors. Most are predicting that won't happen until much later in the year.

I mean I hear a dual core phone is coming out soon and one that does alot of stuff the thunderbolt can't do.

like what?
go for the TB and get it with a 1-year contract
then when the year is up u can buy the 2nd generation of dual core phones.

thats what im doing anyways

and honestly, new phones are comming out left and right, u will never have the best phone for more than a couple of months.
you have to bite the bullet at some point.

yeah but I don't want to pay $400 for a 1 year contract.
If best buy did early upgrades I'd go that route. Why can't verizon offer a pre-order.

Its really hard to say. I have a G Tablet with Tegra 2. I get quadrant scores of over 2400 on the reg. This is on Froyo. It is true that the os, and therefor, the apps are not optimized for the dual core, and will not be for quite a while. 1800 on the TB for quadrant is nothing to sneeze at. Plus, these dual cores will really only make a difference for gaming. Do you really want to do that much hard core gaming on your phone?
