HTC Thunderbolt Release Date

earlier I was meaning negative publicity. They need something to take the negative publicity away from the iphone sales.
I would hope they will announce the thunderbolt tomorrow and maybe start a pre-sale for current subs.

Now, the less than stellar iPhone situation today may change their minds...

What do you mean? Big Red rolled out the red carpet - they had 6 or 7 people to wait on every customer!

He means it didnt do as well as they expected in opening day sales ........

go figure:icon_ banana:

I think both of them meant that iPhail sales today were underwhelming, Kodiak was being sarcastic - several employees to help each customer today, instead of lines out the doors and long waits like VZW assumed. Its like opening an "exclusive" club and nobody shows up the first night. Maybe we should give the general public a little more credit, maybe they actually have done a little homework and aren't buying into the iHype. Maybe they are all waiting on the TB or Bionic in their 4G/LTE glory? Then again, maybe I'm giving them too much credit here and the sheeple are just waiting for the weekend...

So it looks like 2/24 is set, as far as I'm concerned. If it comes out 2/14 at Best Buy first, awesome, I'll be there that morning; if not, I won't be let down. I've already waited since November for this phone, what's 2 more weeks. Finger's crossed that it won't be delayed even beyond that. I guess it all depends on how the iPhone does now...

Maybe we should move on to pricing discussions. Initial rumors have been both $250 and $200. With the recent rumor of $750 being the off-contract price, I think $250 is more likely. People saying $200 from Best Buy could possibly be counting the $50 deposit in that calculation. I highly doubt it would be any lower than $200, and even that might be pushing it. Those LTE radios in the Thunderbolts are not cheap, you know. What do you guys think? What have you heard? Not a big deal, I'll be getting it regardless, but an extra $50 in my pocket doesn't hurt.

So, based on what some guy said, you're all banking on the 24th? Still nothing official.....

I'm not banking on anything with this phone. I learned my lesson on that back in November. Things are always changing with cell phones. Nothing will be official until iPhone has its "day in the sun." Then we will hear something from VZW. And its not just what "some guy" said, its about 4-5 reliable tech blogs and 2 reliable testers, all saying the same thing, getting the information from multiple different inside sources. These people are in the know. Sure, things could always change again, and they could end up being wrong, that's just the nature of the game. I'm just sick of the release date speculation and want something else to debate, like phone pricing.

At least 2 sites are saying the 24th. The more sites that say the 24th the more we are confident in the date.

Yeah, I agree...of course I know next to nothing about any of this stuff so maybe that's partially wishful thinking. Best case scenario though is that BB exclusively sells it on the 14th and then it hits other stores the 24th. That's very unlikely but I can dream =D

A lot more than that were saying definitely the 14th less than a week ago...

Just saying, as we get closer to the 24th, don't be surprised if it's "delayed" again (even if the release date was never announced).

Verizon screwed up two different ways. Android phones outnumber Symbian and IOS phones now. But they pushed out iPhone before the TB? CNBC reports significantly shorter lines at Verizon stores than expected. 20 at one store in Cali. So they sold a few thousand?

To the point, is Verizon forced to ship the TB asap to make their quarterly numbers? Good for us to be sure. If not, stock will tumble after earnings report or sooner when the Street smells blood. Hopefully Verizon realizes the releasing the TB sooner will create sales that more than offset the returns of iPhones.

Really really want to get a TB and I have been a committed Windows Smartphone user ever since they shipped.

This. Nobody won today with the sub-par turnout. Apple lost, Verizon lost, "we" lost, and the biggest loser of all may be HTC. When MWC starts on Monday without a release date for the Thunderbolt and everyone sees all of the goodness that's a couple of months away, a lot of people may jump off of the Thunderbolt bandwagon before it even starts moving.

That is why I am hoping verizon relases a statement tomorrow.
